Sam Design 2

Description

This is the second prototype of the Sam design. If it looks nothing like the first this stems mostly from the widening of the face (per my last design's comment) and also the removal of the sarong (My notes say she's supposed to wear blue jeans but in my research last time the sarong came up and I thought I'd try it out.

Anatomy wise I tried stepping up the stylization up a notch, exaggerating the disparity between bust and hips. I also toned down her breasts to a much more modest size, though the late cycle diminished left things looking... unsupported; so I'll be working to adjust this in future attempts at the design.

As always though comments are especially welcome as I try and tune this in!

Firstly let me say welcome to Furryland and may more characters follow. It's seriously addictive to create your own cartoon universe and not just do fan art of other people's work.
Now lets get down to business. In the annals of Furry Fandom no other species is more over represented than the wolf and fox girl, so you've got to work hard to get another one of these characters noticed. There is only one way to do this and that is through the development of an original style. There are heaps of wannabes out there who can copy perfect Disney style Balto knock offs; however, it takes a bit more to create something new and original, even if it doesn't look as flashy right away. I am pleased to say that I've not seen anyone draw in your style so it appears original and grabs my attention.
Your work has got slightly mangaesque eyes yet it's not your typical manga fur. While you follow many of the accepted rules of furry art, such as a two tone body and the whole hair thing, you don't appear as a slave to it and I can see your own style come through in the face and body.
I like your hands, as a cartoon should have large hands to balance the large head and features. The rest of the body looks good as you're going for a more realistic body and not a toony one, however, I'd make the bood rounder to balance her upper body and hips. I've always thought that cartoon boobs should look more like implants as its an exaggeration of nature.
I guess now all you have to ask yourself is, am I going to continue in the traditional medium of pencils and paper or move to computer programs like GIMP and Photoshop (These really enhance colouring). Anyway, I like your work and want to see more soon.
